The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Gambia Import and Export Promotion Agency are working towards the organisation of their 7th edition of the trade fair, which serves as a platform where business showcase their products and services and collaborate with one another and other stakeholders in the business industry to explore opportunities for economic growth. Allocation of stalls will be on first come first served basis and it commences on the 1st March and ends on the 16th March 2014 which will be held at the Independence Stadium. Fees for a stall are D12, 000 and entrance tickets for adults are D 25 and D10 for children.
According to Mrs. Beatrice Prom, Corporate and Services Manager of (GCCI), this year’s theme is “Inclusive Growth through Partnerships”. She said that rapid and sustained poverty reduction requires inclusive growth that allows people to contribute to and benefit from economic growth. She added that the GCCI believes that competitive and environmentally sustainable industries have a crucial role to play in accelerating economic growth, reducing poverty, and achieving development goals. She further noted that in the age of globalization, gaining access to expert markets is particularly important for small and medium-sized enterprises adding that in the ECOWAS sub-region and beyond this access is crucial for growth and increased productivity.
The objectives of the Trade Fair are to promote the creation and growth of industries and enterprises, to network local enterprises with business opportunities at the international level, to present an opportunity platform for business and industry innovators to showcase and possibly collaborate, to highlight investment opportunities in The Gambia, to increase inter-regional trade, to promote the exportation of ‘made in the Gambia’ products, to champion the creation of private sector jobs and to facilitate public sector partnerships .
