Gamcel, the national GSM operator presented 10 Hajj packages to nine Muslims and a Christian at a ceremony held at its head office in Kanifing. The package which covers the cost of their air ticket, travelling allowance and a suit case amounted to a whooping D200, 000.00.
Gamcel have been giving out Hajj packages over the years, and have also been sponsoring school going children and supporting agriculture amongst others as part of Gamcel’s corporate social responsibilities.
The winners are Salmana Jallow, Mustapha Jarju, Amie Jobe, Isatou Sillah, Lena Gibba, Abdoulie Jammeh, Abdoulie Jallow, Sally Gitteh and Musa Dem all Muslims and Bonu Mendy a Christian.
These winners will be taking off to the city of Mecca to perform what is called Hajj. The pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the most important observances in Islam. The winners will leave in September and come back towards the end of October. The Christian winner will take off to Jerusalem for an unforgettable spiritual experience with excitement and adventure.
