The newly appointed managing director and chief executive officer of Guaranty Trust Bank Gambia Limited has broken silence the on the recent armed robbery that took place at the bank’s branch in Bakau Newtown almost three weeks ago.
The incident happened at a time when he newly took over the job as the CEO of the Bank.
The robbery, it would be recalled, took place on Friday, September 5th in a broad day light around 2:30pm when two men stormed the bank and at gun point made the tellers to put money into a bag, amounting to D410,120, & D390, 000 which the police said has been recovered.
The Banks CEO, Bolaji Ayodele, who was speaking on the issue for the first time, stated that they were able to recover the monies that were taken with the assistance and cooperation of Police. “The customers can do their banking without fear because the society is secured; the police assured us that the environment is safe.”The Bank boss further assured customers that with the good partnership with Gambia Police Force, their banking halls and environments are safe and people can come and do their business without fear.
He said the relationship between his Bank and the GPF has been cordial, commending the latter for been able to provide security for them. “In return, the Bank will be always available to support them in ensuring that they keep the society safe to do business. As a bank and as a cooperate organization, we move forward to assisting the society in various ways, mostly at schools, in sports and the Police Force in terms of security.
