Once again it has come that time of year for all Muslim’s around the world. Muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting and is regarded as one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a month that teaches discipline and self control. This is a month of reformation and self reflection, where a believer can ponder of over spirituality and piety and bring a change for the better.
During this month Muslim’s abstain from food and all forbidden acts from sunrise to sunset. Charity and generosity is especially urged during Ramadan. We learn to give, and not to take. The deprivation of fasting makes us sympathies with the suffering of others, and desirous of alleviating it; and it makes us remember the blessings of life which we normally take for granted.
I want to take this opportunity to wish all Gambians in The Gambia and Outside The Gambia, All Muslim’s around the world a blessed Ramadan Mubarak from the entire Gambia.com team.
