The Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation Staff Association under its Operation Promote Investment in Education, Agriculture and Health (OPIEAH) project, is gearing up for its 2015 annual fundraising event to be held on June 5th at the Paradise Suites Hotel. The forthcoming event, dubbed ‘Goudi Gambia Taar’ is described as a night of national pride and the event is going to be 100% Gambian affairs. Ranging from artistes, food, fashion, and culture. It also meant to showcase the rich and diverse cultures of The Gambia.
The whole concept of OPIEAH, is to invest in education, agriculture and health, and these he said are very critical sectors in any country’s development. Over the years, the SSHFC has been doing a lot when it comes to education, agriculture and health. On education, students that the office is sponsoring over the period from the secondary, tertiary to university levels. On agriculture, farm projects, particularly in the North Bank Region where they support community farming of which proceeds are ploughed back to the community. On health sector, they have wards in the country’s major hospitals.
With regards to the preparation for the next fundraising event, the preparations are ongoing and the programme will be on June 5th at the Paradise Suites Hotel. SSHFC maintained that this time is not only going to be a gala but a mega banquet dinner where they are going to gather all corporate institutions.
