The bill was also suspended because there was no report from 2019 when it was first tabled before the Fifth Legislature.

It is reported that the Attorney General’s Office produced three versions of the bill – 2019, 2020 and 2022.

“There is confusion regarding the two bills, 2019 and 2020; there is one in green colour and the other in pink,” Speaker Fabakary Tombong Jatta said. “The pink colour was circulated in the Fifth Legislature; and therefore it will be out of order for us to try to use the 2022 bill.”

“So in this circumstances, we need to make sure everyone has their own copy of the 2019 bill, till then we suspend the sitting,” he told legislators.

Dawda A. Jallow, the attorney general and minister of Justice was asked to regularise these bills and present the one suitable for consideration based on what was laid in the Fifth Legislative.
