Reports emerging from Police Headquarters are suggesting the appointment of Abdoulie Sanyang as the new IGP.

Insiders are suggesting that the bilingual police chief has been appointed to replace the late Mamout Jobe.  Sanyang was Jobe’s deputy.

A top insider said: “ I can confirm to you that DIG Abdoulie Sanyang has been appointed IGP. He was supposed to collect his letter of appointment today.”

The former DIG Modou Sowe has been groomed as Sanyang’s assistant. Sowe is the commissioner of police for the North Bank Region.

Police spokesman Superintendent Lamin Njie was contacted for comment and this is what he had to say: “I will check and revert back.”
