Gambia’s Information Minister Ebrima Sillah has expressed optimism about President Adama Barrow’s landslide victory in the upcoming December 4th Presidential elections. Mr. Sillah was speaking on Thursday in an interview with Freedom radio Gambia.

When asked about President Barrow’s prospects of winning the upcoming polls, Sillah, who was in laughter said: “ha, ha, Pa, you know that even the political parties that are registered today, if you ask them today, they will tell you that our chances are very high. And this not because I want to defend my party, the NPP, or anything, but I can assure you that the NPP has made significant gains and come December 2021, I can tell you on the 5th of December, the NPP is going to come out with a landslide victory, that I can tell you, mark it, Insha’Allah and then we will talk about this on the 5th of December, or on the 6th of December and you will tell me, how were you people be able to do this and I will tell you all the political strategies that we deployed to ensure that we won.  Elections are not won through this big noise and talks. Elections are won through important strategies, through programs, through projects, through development programs. I can tell you come December 2021, on the 5th of December, or on the 4th of December, this is judgment day, and I can assure you that the NPP will come out on top of most of these political parties that are making all this big noise today, that I can tell you.”

When further quizzed: Why are you so optimistic? Why?

“I am optimistic because I know the work that we are doing, we are not just sitting in forums talking about issues, talking about people, we are doing the work, we are walking the work, and let those talking the talk continue to talk the talk and judgment day is on the 5th of December in the morning of the 5th of December, when NPP supporters will be out in the streets celebrating the big victory,” Information Minister Sillah remarked.

When I put it to him that: “Your uncle Ousainou Darboe, if you ask him, he might be saying Ebrima Sillah, is daydreaming, are you daydreaming?

“You ask any small party today, they will tell you the same thing, then December 5th, we will see, who is daydreaming or not. Time will tell and we know what we have done, we know the work that we have done, and we know the work that we continue to do. At the end of the day, it is the effort of those things that will pay dividend. It is not anger and issues in social media that will make anybody to lose this election, it is your maturity and what you offer and what you bring on the table and what you are able to accomplish, that’s what will determine the 2021 election,” Sillah posited.

And in terms of percentage, what percentage would you give Barrow?

“No, I don’t want to do that guess work, but I know that our victory is certain Insha’Allah, Insha’Allah, we will be held above,” he told me.
