Fatou Bensouda Resumes Duty As Gambia’s High Commissioner To UK

Her Excellency Fatou Bensouda has resumed duties as the High Commissioner of the Gambia to the United Kingdom.

“We are delighted to inform you all that, Her Excellency, Mrs Fatou Bensouda has resumed duties as the High Commissioner of The Gambia to The United Kingdom. She is equally accredited to seven other countries…Charge D’Affaires, Mr Suntou Touray has handed over to her to continue serving the interest of Gambians in U.K. and beyond…,” the Gambian High Commission In UK on Friday said in a statement on Facebook.

Fatou Bensouda, born on 31 January 1961, is a Gambian lawyer and former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) from June 2012 to June 2021, after having served as a Deputy Prosecutor in charge of the Prosecutions Division of the ICC from 2004 to 2012.

Fatou has also held the position a legal adviser and a trial attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).

She was also the Attorney General of The Gambia and Minister of Justice from 1998 to 2000.
