Barrister Bubacarr FM Colley, a former officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has pleaded with President Adama Barrow and his executive to look into the affairs of the drug law enforcement agency.
Speaking to Gambians through a live video Barrister FM Colley said: “President Adama Barrow, I am pleading with you to please look into the activities of the DLEAG and the leadership of the agency as well, there are individuals at that agency who are filthy rich, and you can commensurate with their earnings.”
Colley appealed the demotion of one Ebrima Fatty who was demoted from the rank of Inspector to Sub-inspector after receiving a tip-off of two Guinean nationals, who were suspected to be drug dealers.
Barrister Colley continued: “Sometimes we should ask ourselves how those drugs make their way to the Gambia, and that one person in the drug law enforcement agency is in charge of all the border polls in this country.”
Colley said sometime back, he warned that if Gambians are not mindful Gambia will turn to Columbia of West Africa and that he was insulted by many people but within a few months a huge quantity of cocaine was seized in the Gambia.
However, Colley lamented that if President Adama Barrow and his executives do not look into the affairs of the drug law enforcement agency now, officers of the drug law enforcement agency will suspect Cartels, search for them and they will be demoted, like the story of the inspector Ebrima Fatty now sub inspector.
“I am doing this for my country I have been crying for President Adama Barrow to look into the activities of the DLEAG, all these crime rates you are seeing are as a result of the drug, there are more hard drugs in the streets of Banjul than you can imagine and the main institution tasked with the fight against that is the drug law enforcement agency and their leadership is worth questioning but the government seems not to be bothered or concerned” he stressed
“We all know drug law enforcement agencies, police officers, and security officers only work on a tip-off, and in my last interview with Eye Africa Tv I categorically stated that I was never going to talk about the drug law enforcement agency but I am inclined to this time. How can you victimize your officer for doing his job?” he question
