The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) today (on Monday, September 18th, 2023) ordered the Principal of the Gambia College to provide all missing vouchers amounting to D21 million.

The Financial and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) has resolved that the missing vouchers amounting to GMD 21 million must be provided to the auditors by September 28, 2023. If the vouchers are not provided by this date, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) must immediately launch an investigation and report back to the FPAC within 90 days.

“The annual Activity Report and Audited Financial Statement of Gambia College for the year 31st December 2018 was presented to the National Assembly. Activity Reports and Financial Statements for 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 remain outstanding. GPPA’s Draft Compliance Reports on Gambia College for 2019 and 2020 were not finalized,” FPAC reveals.

The Committee’s key Findings and Observations disclosed that during the interface with the Governing Council and Management of Gambia College, the Committee observed that D21 million worth of missing Payment Vouchers and Investment Certificates were queried by the auditors, and they decried the lack of cooperation from Gambia College.

“The External Auditor submitted a draft Management Letter to Gambia College in November 2021. Management Responses were received ten months later. Auditors decried a lack of cooperation from Gambia College, especially from the Board Chairman. Even after involving the Auditor General’s Office Gambia College’s behavior remained unacceptable, FPAC revealed.
