The national Gold Award Holders Association (GAHA) in partnership with the President International Awards on 14th August 2023 at Bakau launched a Summer Camp Awards for thousands of participants across the Region.

Speaking at the press conference held at President International Awards Center in Bakau, the president of the National Award Holder Association, Mr. Baboucarr Kebbeh disclosed that the upcoming award program is open for everyone to participate in and aimed at transforming the lives of young people.

He pointed out that the PIA has produced responsible leaders who are at the various functions of the affairs of the State and they are currently working in local agencies and international sectors.

Mr. Kebbeh also said the upcoming gold award will revitalize the glorious days of gold award holders that purposely build up the strength of young people who are passing through perilous moments as it prepares them to face difficulties ahead.

However, ‘’the Award program in The Gambia had undergone some transformation in the past with coming of different governance and leadership structures and initiative”.

Despite “its presence in the provincial areas of the Gambia is very weak and this has reduced the total roll of award participants from over 25,000 to about 8,000 in 2018 participants and eventually has caused so many award schools been dormant and others died out “he lamented.

But the summer camp will bring together 100 participants in Bronze, Silver, and some Gold holders for a 5 days engagement at the President’s International Award Secretariat Headquarters in August 2023.

The Chairlady of the National Organizing Committee, FatoumattaSanyang among many speakers said that the upcoming summer award camp will build the potential of award holders on entrepreneur, good governance as “it will create a memorable experience for award holders to tap into the trail expedition.

Madam Sanyang disclosed that the upcoming summer camp gold award holder will comprise a 15-kilometer trail expedition, capacity building program on leadership, good governance, and a beauty pageant among many other activities.
