President Barrow told the media at a press conference towards the end of last year that negotiations were on for The Gambia to still host the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The 15th Summit of Heads of State and Government, which is held every three years, was scheduled to take place in The Gambia in 2022. According to the OIC website the calendar of meetings is being updated.
The lack of completion of OIC infrastructure projects has been a stumbling block to the hosting of the summit.
Foroyaa will find out from the authorities when these projects will be ready to facilitate the hosting of the summit by The Gambia.
