Justice Ebrima Ba Jaiteh of the High Court in Banjul has ordered that Dodou Bojang, the current alkalo of Bakau, be served with originating processes in the civil suit filed by one Suruwa B. Wawa Jaiteh against him, the minister of local government and lands, religious affairs and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

Justice Jaiteh made this order yesterday during sitting when court observed that Dodou Bojang and the ministry of local government have not been served with the originating processes in the matter.

Justice Jaiteh adjourned the matter to the 8th February, 2021 to enable Suruwa Jaiteh facilitate the service of the originating processes to Dodou Bojang and the minister of local government  and the Attorney General.

Suruwa B.Wawa Jaiteh is challenging the current alkalo of Bakau and had filed a suit asking the High Court to declare that Dodou Bojang be disqualified as a person fit for the appointment of alkalo of Bakau.

Suruwa B.Wawa Jaiteh is also seeking an order of the High Court to nullify the act of the ministry of local government in appointing Dodou Bojang as Alkalo of Bakau.

Suruwa declared that the process of Dodou Bojang’s nomination and/or endorsement was not in compliance with the mandatory requirements to be alkalo of Bakau, noting that Dodou Bojang’s nomination was tainted with fraud.

Suruwa B. Wawa Jaiteh is therefore seeking the High Court to order the ministry of local government to declare and appoint him as the alkalo of Bakau.
