The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government and Religion Affairs has announced compensating Kebbeh Kunda Kabilo with 45 plots of land within Salaji.

“The Ministry has granted this compensation in fulfilment of its legal mandate as stated in section four (4) of the Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1991, a commitment which was made since 2004 when a portion of their land was acquired by the government for public use.

“The compensation came as a result of the government setting up a Layout in Salagi where some members of Kebba Kunda Kabilo and individuals were affected.

After series of engagements, consultations and correspondences between the Kebba Kunda Kabilo and the Ministry, the compensation has finally been granted with 45 plots (18m x 25 and 20 x 25) of land within Salagi Layout out of the 70 plots of residential land and the remaining 25 plots of land will be given outside Salagi later,” the Ministry of Lands said.

Speaking at the ceremony Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr. Musa Badjie advised the heads of the Kabilo to go through the letters they had been served and respond to them as soon as possible as there are reports that there are some encroachments into the Salagi Layout which they are been compensated for to ensure smooth completion of the compensation process.

Both Permanent Secretary and the Deputy Permanent Secretary thanked the Kebba Kunda Kabilo for the patience and their cooperation for all these years.

The ceremony was grace by the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Director of Department of Lands and Surveys, a representative from the Police, members of the Kebba Kunda Kabilo and the Chief of Kombo North.

The chief of Kombo North, Mam Bojang and members of the Kabilo expressed their delight over the recent progress of the compensation process as it was long overdue.
