The Honourable Minister Higher Education Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), Professor Pierre Gomez told lawmakers that his ministry is working on to introduce Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in The Gambia to equip the youth with more skills for employability.

He added that MoHERST wants to promote TVET education so that they can bring quality education to the doorstep of every Gambia starting with the West Coast Region.
“The youth of this country need more skills because with skills the illegal migration will be limited in the country,” he said.
He said TVET is responsible for the development of the developing countries in World.
He informed that they have also engaged the contractors at the University at Faraba Banta campus so that the Lot 1 of the building can be done in September this to reduce the conjunction at Brikama and Kanifing campuses.
The Honourable minister made the remarks on Tuesday when he appeared before the National Select Committee on education for a briefing session on the activities at his ministry.
