The motive behind the shooting of three officers in cold blood is still unknown. The security implications are overwhelming. The number of police stations may increase but if there is no social cohesion, security and peace would be the casualties. There is therefore need to have a thorough study of the hot spots in the community to find out what the underlying grievances are and what ought to be done to address them.
Foroyaa will not pre-empt what the IGP and the security adviser would say today but would add its voice to those who are calling for renewed community policing initiatives which should promote interaction between the service men and women with the communities they serve. The more alienated the security personnel are to the population, the greater the risk taken by service men and women.
