New Covenant observes Foundation Day of Late Elizabeth Nana Forbes

The New Covenant, on Thursday, observed the foundation day of the late Elizabeth Nana Forbes (Mama Liz), the founder of New Covenant School in Fajikunda. The event was held at the school premises.

Paying tribute to the later founder, Kemo Janko, principal of the New Covenant School, acknowledged the presence of different individuals that made it to the celebration.

“Celebrating the noble day of Miss Dr. Elizabeth Nana Forbes known as Mama Liz is means to continue providing quality education for the world at large.

He disclosed that since the demise of the founder, Mr. Babucarr Sarr, a member of the school board of directors always encourages the staff while the words of Mama Liz encourage both teachers and students to abide by the Christian values have faith in God Integrity and perseverance are always abide with.

Highlighting the legacy of the late Elizabeth, Kemo said Mama Liz provide scholarships for students while showing integrity and perseverance.

He went further to say the good name of the school will be remembered in the heart and mind of the nation. “A legendary act of Mama Liz which is beneficial as she always encouraged students to emulate and be determined will continue,” he promised.

Another speaker Dalia Taylor, an ex-student of the school explained her successful journey and how the school contributed towards her success, “I am now a nurse at the RVTH and Mama is the foundation of my career.

Meanwhile, Mariama Corea, who was awarded a sum of D10,000 for her outstanding performance during her days in the school also got an additional D5000 from the Pastor for her amazing performance.

The celebration marked the first celebration of the Founder’s Day in Honour of Mama Liz who established the New Covenant School in 1989.

Different activities were performed by students to show their talents, poetry from various students of different classes, drama, and cultural dance to show and promote culture and togetherness among different cultures in The Gambia.
