Speaking to this reporter, Superintendent Modou Lamin Cessay, Prison PRO said: “The investigation is now completed and the officers who were on duties faced their fear as officers who were on duties. They were charged and the case was heard, the relief commander who was Inspector Joseph Cavarlho was dismissed because he was a relief commander and this happen overnight when everywhere was closed and every inmate was in.”

He also said “By looking at it from the looks of things, it amounted to total gross negligence through which these people read their security and they know that they were not at alert as expected and they used the means to make their very unprofessional way. Adding that, security persons need to be always cautious and alert in executing their duties,” Ceesay added.

More so, PRO Ceesay noted that the relief commander who has been working in Prison for over 30 years was dismissed and his subordinates were heavily fined as a deterrent to others. Adding that the charges of the subordinate were in accordance with the disciplinary measures of the Prison Act.

Meanwhile, Ceesay disclosed that during the process Ebrima Suso a Gambian was caught whilst Ousman Saine and Sulayman Darboe are still on the run. “We are still on our escape duties trying to apprehend them with the support of the entire sister services.” He said.
