After branding Sidia Jatta as a non-truth teller, a temperamental Ousainou Darboe says he has withdrawn the trust and respect he has for Jatta, the Parliamentarian for Wulli West. This followed Jatta’s recent press interview in which he said the UDP leader Darboe had insisted to be appointed Foreign Minister. Jatta also said it was because of Darboe’s possessive behavior that the opposition’s efforts to form a merger to remove Jammeh in the past elections failed. He said Darboe would always insists that he had the biggest party and would not join the existing parties to oppose Jammeh. This has led to Jammeh’s continued rule. Once he (Darboe) was jailed, the opposition were able to unite to form an alliance to defeat Jammeh in the 2016 elections. Barrow was elected President, all prisoners including Darboe released from jail.

Darboe started his outburst with a little praise for Sidia, saying that he used to hold Jatta with high esteem, but has renounced the respect he used to have for the politician. He said Jatta’s recent remarks in which he accused him of killing the coalition government, was not only false, but misguided.

Jatta charged that once Darboe was released from jail, and he joined the new government, that led to the demise of the Coalition government. He said it was Darboe who killed the Coalition government.

“ I am not going to waste my time responding to someone I belittle. Sidia Jatta is nobody, I have no respect for him, “Injutula” meaning in English, he is inferior to me,” a ragging Darboe said.

Darboe has  denied killing the Coalition government. He says Jatta’s accusations were the figment of his own imagination.

Responding to Jatta, he said, would mean dignifying him.

“I am not going to respond to him. He is inferior to me, I have no respect for him,” he said.

According to Darboe, Jatta and his PDOIS colleagues often behaved as if they are superior to Gambians, that they think that  the level that they are, was far above the average Gambian.

“They think that they are not people’s match. That’s how they carry themselves. Silence is golden. I am not going to dignify him with a response,” Darboe remarked.

Darboe, a Gambian lawyer, who has contested the Presidency for numerous times, has also accused President Barrow of lying against him.

“ Your President is in the business of saying what is not true. Yes, when he offered to appoint me, Vice President, I declined it. I told him that I was not constitutionally qualified to be appointed. Omar Sey was not present when I met him. His Press Secretary Amie Bojang Sissoho was there, when I spoke to him. Omar Sey was not present,” Darboe said.

Darboe had served as Foreign Minister and Vice President before his fallout with President Barrow. He attacked Barrow and Sidia Jatta during his interview with the “Mentekering” platform.
