Musa Saidy, a Muslim preacher and native of Guinea Bissau resident in Tujereng, has got into trouble again with community leaders in Kombo South who accused him of insulting them in his preachings.

Early this year, a reconciliation meeting was held in Tujereng between him and some marabouts who also felt he insulted them in audios he had released. On that occasion, Saidy said he never meant to insult anyone and his comments were taken out of context. The meeting ended with Imam Sonko and his accusers promising never to verbally attack each other.

This time again, on Sunday Imam Saidy was summoned to the Tujereng village Bantaba after fresh audios by him emerged allegedly filled with insults to answer questions as to why he always promotes violence in his preachings as well as attacking fellow Imams with insults. However, Saidy did not show up at this meeting raising tension among his accusers who stayed for hours waiting for him.

In the end, the deputy governor of West Coast Region Musa Suso who mediated the initial row involving Saidy and the marabouts, intervened again to calm the crowd promising that he would get to Imam Saidy on the matter.

An angry Lamin Touray, VDC member of Gunjur said they will not relent in making sure the Bissau Imam is accountable for all the insults he allegedly rained on their parents.

Buba Darboe of Bato-kunku said Imam Sonko is becoming a threat to the peaceful existence of the people through his preaching. The Standard tried to get Imam Saidy on the phone without success. However, the Imam has always said that he has no intention to insult anyone and that his comments are always taken out of context.
