UDP Congress: Darboe Mandate Extended as Party leader

The United Democratic Party (UDP) membership unanimously re-elected lawyer Ousainou Darboe as Secretary General and Party Leader for the country’s biggest opposition political party and this  was announced at its congress in Janjanbureh, Central River Region on Saturday.

This year, UDP national congress attracted party delegates across the country in fulfillment of the electoral requirements and laws of the country that requires all political parties to hold a biennial congress in filling the positions of national executive members.

Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, who has been the leader of the UDP since its establishment in 1996 has served another five years mandate till 2026.

Meanwhile, Momodou Sabally, former secretary general and head of civil servants was elected as the campaign manager of the United Democratic Party succeeding Karafa Sonko.

Sabally is tasked to lead the UDP to victory in the next presidential and national assembly.

Kemo Bojang former National Youth President of the party has been succeeded by Haji Suwareh, the position of deputy treasurer position which was one-time held by President Adama Barrow has been given to Hon. Muhammad Mahanera former National Assembly Member of Tumana deputizing Hon. Amadou Sanneh, former minister of finance and economic affairs.

Our reporter at Janjanbureh disclosed that other senior party executives including Aja Yam Secka, Aji Yamundow Yarboe, Talib Ahmed Bensuda, and Rohey Malick Lowe among others have retained their positions at the congress.
