Foroyaa has been following the secretariat based at Djembe Hotel to find out when they will commence their proceedings. The secretary has always been cautious to say that they are almost ready to start but are resolving certain gaps in order to commence. The media is likely to be present at Djembe Hotel this morning to find out whether the gaps have been filled for proceedings to start.
It is yet to be revealed how much it would cost for the commission to conduct its inquiry and conclude within three months. It is also not clear why it has not commenced proceedings until nine days before mayoral/ chairpersonship elections.
It could be recalled that the president did say at the time of the inauguration of the members of the commission that it would commence proceedings immediately. Needless to say, election of councillors has already taken place and campaign for mayoral/chairpersonship elections is ongoing. It is always the best to have all the logistics in place before inaugurating a commission of inquiry. Over a month has elapsed. This shows that preparations had not been made prior to the inauguration of the commission. Foroyaa will follow events and report accordingly.
